Teams hoping to qualify for the Women's World Cup in South Africa in 2005 will be making their bids at a qualifying tournament to be held in the Netherlands in July.
From July 21-27, the Netherlands, Pakistan, Ireland, Scotland, the West Indies and Japan will be playing off for two places at the World Cup.
Qualifying for the World Cup is regarded as a vital means of bridging the gap between the higher-ranked nations like defending world champions New Zealand, Australia, England, South Africa and India.
Ireland will be the favourites for the IWCC Trophy with Pakistan, the West Indies and the Netherlands fighting over the remaining place.
The appearance by Japan is their first at any international tournament.
Games during the qualifying tournament will be hosted at 12 different clubs.
Several activities are planned to coincide with the tournament, including reunions of past players and coaching clinics for younger players.
