Wounded Australia out for revenge

For the first time in the history of the VB Series, Australia find themselves behind in the best-of three-match finals after they were comprehensively beaten by Sri Lanka in the opening match on Friday.

However, Ricky Ponting's side are not panicking just yet and bet365 are not either, making the Australians 8/15 (1.53) to come from behind to win the series. Sri Lanka, who have to be buoyed by their performance in Adelaide, are 11/8 (2.37) to win one of the two remaining games and clinch the series.

The series now moves to Sydney for the second match on Sunday and Australia are 1/4 (1.25) to level the series, while Sri Lanka are 11/4 (3.75) to wrap up what would truly be a sensational 2-0 win, given their poor form until the turn of the year and Australia's obvious strength.

Australia have won 68 of their 101 one-day matches at the SCG, and have beaten Sri Lanka six times out of eight there. However, they lost the most recent one when Sri Lanka won by 51 runs in the group stages, helped by a fabulous century from Sanath Jayasuriya.

The former skipper must be confident that Sri Lanka can win in Sydney as he has a superb record there, averaging a whopping 76, with centuries in each of his past three matches there.

Despite his record there, Jayasuriya is only second favourite at 4/1 (5.00) to be his side's top runscorer, as bet365 make Kumar Sangakkara, who top-scored in Adelaide, the favourite at 100/30 (4.33).

Captain Marvan Atapattu and Michael vandort are also 4/1 (5.00), while Mahela Jayawardene is 9/2 (5.50) and Tillekeratne Dilshan, whose brilliant fielding was the undoing of Australia in Adelaide, is 13/2 (7.50).

As for Australia, captain Ponting is favourite at 7/2 (4.50) while Adam Gilchrist is 4/1 (5.00) and Damien Martyn and Simon Katich are 9/2 (5.50).

Andrew Symonds is 6/1 (7.00), Michael Hussey is 13/2 (7.50) and Michael Clarke, one of the few Australians to perform well in Brisbane, is 7/1 (8.00).
