John Wright, coach of the Rest of the World XI for the Super Series, says that there will be no lack of motivation from Australia, despite the recent Ashes loss to England.
Wright told the New Zealand-based website, www.stuff.co.nz, "They have so much to play for and won't want to give their selectors the opportunity to make any more changes to the side. Before their home crowds we expect nothing less than a real fight on our hands."
Wright, who leaves today for Melbourne to begin preparation for the three-match one-day series and one-off six-day Test, said he was a little concerned that a number of players in his squad might be rusty as they had not been playing competitive cricket recently. "Some of those guys will probably want a decent workout while some of the others, like the England boys, won't need much."
Talking about his own role as a coach, Wright said he would not be doing any fine-tuning to players' techniques given the quality of players under his control. "I'll be just making sure the practices are organised and they can do as much or as little as they need."
Wright, who enjoyed a successful five-year tenure as Indian coach, will be further assisted in challenging Australia through the input of Tim Boon, England's video analyst-cum-coach.
"Tim should be able to give us a line on what they did and then it's up to our side to perform." The Rest of the World squad, which also includes England's physiotherapist, is expected to assemble in Melbourne on September 28.
