Less than a fortnight after postponing its domestic Twenty20 tournament on the eve of the start, Zimbabwe Cricket has done the same with its one-day competition, the Faithwear Cup.
Cricinfo had predicted that the Faithwear would not start as scheduled on February 28, but no official statement was made by the board either to the media or on its own website.
A source close to the board said that the unavailability of national players, who are taking part in South Africa's MTN Domestic Championship, was the main reason as it was felt that without them sides would be too weak. The poor standard of cricket in the 2006 Faithwear Cup led to ZC suspending and then cancelling the 2006 Logan Cup.
It is expected that the one-day competition will now take place in April, but there remains uncertainty whether the Twenty20 event will be resurrected.
