Harrop earns ING Cup debut

Melbourne University fast-bowler Brett Harrop has been selected to make his ING Cup debut for the Bushrangers in Sunday's clash with the NSW Blues. Also returning to the side is young Melbourne paceman Rob Cassell who is expected to play after spending the past two Bushrangers one-day matches as 13th man and captain Darren Berry who has served his two match suspension.

The rookie contracted Harrop is considered one of Victoria's fastest bowlers and has impressed at Premier and ACB Cup level this season, taking 30 wickets at 19.50 piece for Melbourne University. "It came out of the blue but I'm bowling well and looking forward to making the most of my opportunity", Harrop said after being told of his selection at club training.

The side is as follows:

Darren Berry (c), Brad Hodge, Nick Jewell, Rob Cassell, Cameron White, Brett Harrop, Andrew McDonald, Michael Klinger, Jon Moss, Brendan Joseland, David Hussey, Mick Lewis, Mathew Inness (one to be omitted)

In other news, Melbourne batsman Liam Buchanan was rewarded for his magnificent 239 in Premier Cricket last weekend with selection in Victoria's ACB Cup side to play the ACT at the Junction Oval next week. Buchanan, who leads all Premier Cricket runscorers in 2002/03, will make his ACB Cup debut alongside Geelong's Marc Carson, Frankston Peninsula's Darren Groves, Camberwell Magpies' Sean Pietersz, Melbourne's Matthew Pinniger, Northcote's Steven Welsh and young Footscray-Vic Uni batsman Matthew Innes.
