Hauritz to captain QAS
Queensland and Australian One Day International spinner Nathan Hauritz will captain the Queensland Academy of Sport Invitation XII to play Bangladesh in a practice match at Allan Border Field this week.
Hauritz, a member of the victorious Australian World Cup and West Indies touring party, will also play against the visitors in Darwin as a member of the Northern Territory Chief Minister's XI next month.
The 21-year-old off-spinner, who has captained teams at Australian U-19 and Queensland Youth level, will lead a strong Invitation side that contains seven players with first class experience.
Included in the side are XXXX Queensland Bulls players Lee Carseldine, Brendan Nash, James Hopes, Daniel Payne, Chris Simpson and Damien MacKenzie.
New Bulls squad members Aaron Nye and Steve Magoffin have also been named.
Promising wicket-keeper Chris Hartley will share duties with the gloves with University of Queensland keeper-batsman Steve Farrell for the match. Hartley has a university exam on Saturday.
Play will start at 9.45am each day.
Bangladesh will play a three-day practice game against the Commonwealth Bank Cricket Academy from next Thursday prior to them travelling to Darwin to prepare for the First 3 Test match.
Admission to both matches is free.
