West Indies in Bangladesh ODI Series - 1st ODI

Bangladesh v West Indies

Bangladesh won by 7 wickets (with 58 balls remaining)

8.55am Mushfiqur Rahim says he doesn't mind bowling first, since he thinks the bowlers could get some help early on.

All eyes on Chris Gayle as he walks out with Lendl Simmons. It's quite a hazy morning, the sun is just peeking out, and the crowd has already found its voice, determined to enjoy itself.

The frequently injured Mashrafe Mortaza has the new ball in his hand.

8.50am Isam is basically doing my job, given the frequency and length of his updates. Here's the latest: "- The groundsman are about to finish their second lap of the ground with a large jute sheet..to rub off the dew."

Just a reminder that the new ODI rules will be in effect for this series. That means only four men outside the circle in the non-Powerplay overs. The first 10 overs are mandatory Powerplay overs, and the batting side has to finish their Powerplay of five overs sometime before the 40th over.

Jeff Dujon in his pitch report says the pitch is good for batting, and the morning dew will also help the batting side early on.

8.45am Good to see people wanting to watch cricket at the stadium, but this isn't as nice. Isam: "The response was so good that when the lines opened on Wednesday, there was a huge melee and people got injured 30 fans fell ill after having to wait in queue for more than 24 hours to buy tickets. Of the 10,800 available tickets, 7,000 were released for sale to the public,

Warm-up matches - West Indies beat BCB XI by 118 runs; BCB XI beat Bangladesh by five wickets."

8.40am Huge response to his ODI in Khulna, says Mohammad Isam, our Bangladesh expert and our man at the ground: "The ground is filling up quickly. There were huge lines outside the ground, people from Khulna and the rest of the southwestern region have come to watch this first ODI. There was a similar buzz on the first day of the second Test here, but there are longer queues and over the last few days there have been a lot of interest in tickets."

Also, just a reminder that the Perth Test is underway. South Africa are batting at 7/0. Amazingly, Mitchell Johnson is back - only a few months ago, I thought Australia might never have to turn to him again in Tests. Catch comms for that game here.

8.30am Toss West Indies have won the toss and elected to bat. Powell, Holder, Dwayne Smith and Permaul are not playing. Rubel, Shafiul and Jahurul are not playing for Bangladesh.

And, hang on to your hats, FOUR debutants for Bangladesh - Abul Hasan, Sohag Gazi, Anamul Haque, Mominul Haque.

8.20am Greetings folk, the first of five ODIs between Bangladesh and West Indies coming up. Bangladesh were competitive in the two Tests, but lost both of them. They are more accomplished in ODIs, but will they be able to topple an improving West Indies team?

SP Narine lbw b Sohag Gazi 36 (61m 45b 3x4 0x6) SR: 80.00

Gazi now has the best figures bu a Bangladesh bowler on debut in both Tests and ODIs. Here's the ODI list.

Bangladesh should be pretty pleased with their bowling efforts, there wasn't much seam or seam on this track. After winning the toss and choosing to bat, West Indies will be kicking themselves for being bowled out for 199, with some pretty poor strokes from some of their main batsmen.

I'm off for lunch, we'll be back in half an hour or so, around 12.50pm.
