And its all over. Four off a full toss. Tame way to finish a tame game. Rayudu comes forward and caresses this through the covers to score the winning runs on his ODI debut
Zimbabwe vs India, 1st ODI at Harare, Jul 24 2013 - Match Result
A simple chase for India, as was widely expected. Virat Kohli displayed his class once more, guiding the chase responsibly. Zimbabwe's bowlers struggled to trouble India, erring on the pads quite often. Ambati Rayudu looked solid at the crease on his first appearance on the international stage, staying till the very end and scoring the winning runs.
Its Presentation time. Brendan Taylor: First hour was vital, We didn't lose any wickets but we could have been a bit more proactive. Against a quality side like India we needed 270 on the board. Sikandar Raza played very well, showing good composure despite having hardly played any games. Prosper Utseya was good with the ball and hopefully next time we can come out and express ourselves a little better.
Virat Kohli is the Man-of-the-Match. Happy with the win. Always good to kick off a tour with a win and personally I was happy with the way I played. The ball was moving around a bit early on and it was all about percentage cricket, rotating the strike and then playing your shots at the end. Our bowlers did a very good job up front. The new ball was doing quite a bit in the morning and with two new balls you can't count any team out. Congratulations to Ambati Rayudu, he's got an India call-up after a long time and he's grabbed his opportunity very well.
That's all for today, folks. Thanks for joining us. Pakistan and West Indies are tussling over in St Lucia, so do go check that out. From Alagappan, it is sayonara.
Flighted delivery and Karthik drives this down to long off
Full and around the off stump, with a little turn. Karthik pushes it into the off side
Full ball around off stump and driven to long off again
Good, full ball on the off stump and its driven to long off for a single
Renish: "Karthik is without his 'war paint' on his face..a rare watch!!!"
Dabbed in front of midwicket with soft hands to allow the batsmen to get the single
Flighted ball and its driven to the off side ring
nudged into the on side off the front foot
Moves back to cut it but can't beat the infield
Fuller and its pushed back to the bowler
Pushed out to midwicket off the back foot
Vikas: "If MSD comes in now, the match will conitnue till the last over, if not the last ball!"
Another sweep, but this one is straight to the fielder
Better line now. Around off and it is defended off the front foot
Just a little down leg and Karthik is quick on the sweep. Powerful strike goes off to the fine leg boundary
Just a tad shorter and he moves back to defend it back to the bowler
Nice drift there. Karthik comes forward and presents a dead bat
Dabbed out to deep square leg off the back foot
Raj: "Do we need MSD to finish this match?"
Tossed up and he defends it with soft hands
Dinesh Kathik comes to the crease, with 13 runs to win. False start as Karthik walks away. Movement behind the sight screen. Slip in
Amit: "What's great about Kohli (captain or not) is the way he accelerates after reaching a milestone. Unlike a Sharma or a Karthik who perish immediately after a milestone, Kohli continues to play his shots with minimum risks and hits those fours & sixes."
He's thrown it away. Caught at extra cover. Another flighted ball. Raina comes down the track, making a little room for himself, but he doesn't get enough elevation. A soft dismissal
Full and on off stump. Defended
Suresh Raina is the new man. Utseya goes round the wicket
