Afghanistan Under-19s 266 for 5 (Shaidi 100*, Ghani 52) beat Pakistan Under-19s 52 (Fareed 7-21) by 214 runs

Fareed Ahmad ran through Pakistan Under-19s' batting to finish with figures of 7 for 21 as Afghanistan Under-19s won the third and final one-dayer at the Gaddafi Stadium by 214 runs. Having scored 266 for 5 in their 45 overs thanks to a century from Hashmatullah Shaidi, Afghanistan bowled Pakistan out for 52.

Left-arm seamer Fareed struck three times in his first over to dismiss Sami Aslam, Mohammad Umair and Imam-ul-Haq, getting all of them caught behind. Pakistan, at that stage, were 3 for 2. Fareed went wicketless in his second over, but left Pakistan in complete disarray with two wickets each in his third and fourth overs.

Left-arm spinner Sharafuddin Ashraf came on and dashed Fareed's hopes of a ten-for, trapping Karamat Ali lbw in the 11th over to have Pakistan 22 for 8. Fareed then bowled one more over before Afghanistan captain Nasir Ahmadzai took him out of the attack. The ninth-wicket pair of Ameer Hamza and Salman Saeed then put on 22, the highest partnership of Pakistan's innings, before left-arm spinner Zia-ur-Rehman had Hamza lbw for 13.

Pakistan's last-wicket pair ensured their team would not fall short of 50, but that was to be their only consolation, as Zia bowled Salman for 12 to wrap up the innings in 17.5 overs.

Sent in to bat, Afghanistan made a strong start, with Usman Ghani and Ihsanullah putting on 77 for the first wicket in 13.1 overs. Pakistan dismissed both openers within 20 runs of each other, before Shaidi and Younas Ahmadzai added 70 for the third wicket. Shaidi then shared stands of 64 with captain Nasir Ahmadzai and 35 off 16 balls with Ashraf, who was out off the last ball of Afghanistan's innings. Shaidi finished on an unbeaten 100 off 85 balls, with eight fours and four sixes.

Pakistan, who had won the first two one-dayers, took the series 2-1.

Congrats to Afghanistan for winning the match so emphatically, that too so near the under-19 world cup, that too in Pakistan.

I have no doubts that at present Afghanistan team is much better then Bangladesh and a time will come when they will rub shoulders with India,Pakistan & SriLanka.

Good Luck to them

We have a probe that say snitch them before they snitch you as we Afghans should claim that until attack reviver is our territory and we should claim for all the players whom are belong to Pashtonkhwa and playing for the Pakistan team Congratulation to all Afghans it was just fantastic

Hello, just wanna say thank all of you for your great comments,I just would like the Afghan team to keep improving and play more test matches.i am very proud of you boys great job. Keep it up

Every single game should be a training session the player should learn from their faults and work on their weak points, i consider that Afghanistan is having problem against spin because they were playing the spinners against the spin which 70% cause a chance of wicket, but they played really well and was a good tournament a head of the World cup for then hope they could create more upsets in the upcoming under 19 world cup.

Brilliant performance young players. GO GO AGHANISTAN

It was really a great match! I couldn't believe my eyes, when the wickets were falling one after the other. I think Pakistan should be happy to make at least over 50 runs, because it looked really wiered! And pakistan should be also happy to have won the second OD by just 17 runs. Otherwise the serie would have went to Afghania!

It´s good that the Afghan U19 and National teams get at least some kind of exposure to test playing nations. But I am more worried about the Afghan U23 players, who are to old for U19 and they haven't or haven't got enough chance to the National team yet. Who also need to be exposed to the test playing nations standard!

So, I request on behalve of all Afghan Cricket Fans (ACF) from ICC, ACC and test playing nations to provide Afghan U19, Afghan U23 and National teams with support in every field needed, but do it only for the sake of the game of Cricket! Just and only Cricket!

congratulation to All Afghanistan! Afghanistan U19 Played well, they have ability to defeat more world's strong cricket teames. ICC must give more chances to Afghanistan Cricket teams (National & U19) to play with full member teams and increase more ability.

Pakistan Under19,s coach should be ashamed of making such irresponsible remarks that there are players from Pak in Afghanistan,s team.He should have behaved professionally and should have accepted the weaknesses of his team.Afghanistan are born to be champions and that is why they always are hungry for wins. I think Pak Under19,s coach should apologize for his rubbish statement. There is no player from Pakistan in our team and neither will we allow one to come!

Well played Afg U-19 team.we can see that after playing couple of matches our team came-back positive & beat a strong team by a huge margin. Afg U-19 should keep this form in upcoming World cup as well. we almost won the 2nd game as well. Thanks to PCB for their usual help & contribution to ACB.

@Zohair-zohair:I get it that all of them were trained under your supervision in Afghanistan?Just don't go out saying things without any fact..

So the series was won 2-1 by Pakistan. Full marks to Afghanistan for their victory. I haven't seen the game but have watched many test matches where 1 bowler is on song and can get a 6.7.8 for 30 odd runs etc. The real judge will be when Afghanistan are invited to play a few other test nations. This will give us a better idea of their overall ability , however are the other test Nations courageous enough to let this happen ?

It was an amazing game and outstanding performance by Afghanistan u19 squad. They are perfect in all 3 areas of the game, bowling, batting and fielding. We should not ignore that fact that PCB has helped Afghanistan a lot and PCB should continue their support of Afghan Cricket in the years to come. Thank you all and great work ACB

Great team effort by Afghanisan U19 team, even Afghan President officially congratulated Afghan nation for this memorable victory. This shows how much crazy we Afghans are about cricket :)

Posted by   on (January 24, 2014, 15:31 GMT)

Dear Nawaz Ahmad! they were not in Pakistan, all of them are under 20yrs; born in Afghanistan and trained here.

Posted by   on (January 24, 2014, 15:15 GMT)

As an Afghan please do not say that our cricket team is from Pakistan. Personally I was born in Pakistan and lived there 20 years I am still Afghan and proud to be Afghan. Well Done Boys Keep it up Boys.

Posted by   on (January 24, 2014, 13:11 GMT)

put it this way " the afghan players said it themselves (many times) they have learned the art of cricket in pakistan and got intrested in the game while they were in pakistan " so accordingly you can say they are afghan's but they have really flourished while playing in a competitive cricket environment within pakistan cricket leagues with quality players. So its the both factors belonging to pakistan and the will of an afghan to play good cricket.

Posted by   on (January 24, 2014, 13:07 GMT)

really hats off the efforts by the Afghan boys. Without proper infrastructure and financial backings they could make a mark in the world cricket, which shows their dedication to the game. They have some wonderful talents in their senior team also. Definitely they will entertain the cricket fans in a near future with their consistent performances. Once again, well done boys.....

Believe in the magic that's in you, its potential, what it can achieve. But most of all believe in yourself and create a world where dreams become reality. Also When teachers doubt your potential, show them how wrong they truly are. Fantastic performance by these young Afghan Loins. Keep on the hard work, the fututer is waiting full of achievements for all of you.

Posted by Harmony111 on (January 24, 2014, 11:57 GMT)

Ahh, Pakistan U-19 is simply following its Seniors in getting used to 50 all out scores. I would advise Pak fans to pay more attention to such humiliations AT HOME that too at the hands of Afghanistan instead of thinking too much about how India are doing.

Posted by wapuser on (January 24, 2014, 11:50 GMT)

Thank you afghanistan under 19 team

Posted by wapuser on (January 24, 2014, 11:49 GMT)

Wow! wow! wow! what a fantastic piece of cricket my afghan boys have showed to the world that this nation is full of talent

Posted by   on (January 24, 2014, 11:39 GMT)

I know we won the match with great margin, but to say that some of the players playing for Afghan side is from this is what kind of rubbish and childish excuse from a senior man. They are all Afghan and from Afghanistan i agree we lived for years in Peshawar and some parts of Pakistan, but it doesn't mean that they are from Pakistan. Now what i want from Afghan delegation to complain such stupid comments made during live matches as an excuse. Even one of the Commentators from Pakistan said that the comments made by the Pakistani u19 coach was stupid and nonsense after the match. Such comments can harm the Relation Between Afghanistan and Pakistan sport bodies.

Posted by Blade-Runner on (January 24, 2014, 11:31 GMT)

This is too funny to laugh about. lol Well done Afghan boys !!!

Posted by   on (January 24, 2014, 11:12 GMT)

I criticize the Pakistan cricket coach for saying that the Afghan squad consist of Pakistani players. They were all true Afghans.

Posted by Garang321 on (January 24, 2014, 11:10 GMT)

What a knock out, Pakistan will remember for long time. Afghan boys showed the great quality execution. They are improving day by day, keep on, good luck to future.

Posted by   on (January 24, 2014, 10:51 GMT)
