Tino Best and Shoaib Malik were slapped with fines for an on-field altercation during the match between Barbados Tridents and St Lucia Zouks on July 23. While Best was charged with 10% and 50% of his match fee for breaching two clauses, Malik was charged with 50% of his match fee. The incident happened in the 15th over of Tridents' innings after Best had Malik out bowled for 49. The two players argued mid-pitch, with Malik placing his hands on the bowler's shoulder.

Best's offences included "conduct that either (a) is contrary to the spirit of the game; or (b) brings the game into disrepute", a level- one offence and "using language or a gesture(s) that is seriously obscene, seriously offensive or of a seriously insulting nature to another player", a level-two offence. Shoaib Malik's offence related to "inappropriate and deliberate physical contact between players". Both players pleaded guilty.

The CPL management is also investigating another incident after the match at the team hotel involving the same players. The incident, a tournament release said, was "minor and no one was injured".

Shoaib Malik usually a very calm guy and Tino is other way around.

Professional players are expected to keep their cool in such instances. Mallik should have kept his cool.

It was not good for cricket, Though Tino Best was harsh, but Malik should be remained calm and complained about him, to umpires.

Malik was only reacting. Placing a hand on the shoulder was hardly a "physical contact" in the sense it was not as if Malik was getting violent. Tino should have been punished severely as this has not been the first incident of his career...

Tino Best should be banned from cricket or should consider a change of profession, because a bowler should expect a batsman to hit them for fours or sixes unless you are bowlers like Narine or Badree. It is because of his behavior when Malik was bowled and he cursed him or tell him something that wasn't called for that Malik reacted the way he did.
