On Friday, Indian skipper Mohammed Azharuddin became the highest run-scorer in Limited Overs International (LOI) cricket. With this, two Indians (Sachin Tendulkar: 19 hundreds) and (Azhar: 8649 runs) now hold the two major batting world records in this type of cricket. Azhar beat the world record of the West Indian Desmond Haynes, held for 4 years and 246 days.
Haynes scored 8648 runs in 238 matches and 237 innings; Azhar needed 302 matches and 278 innings to overtake him. Azhar was born on 8 February 1963 at Hyderabad and made his debut against England at Bangalore on 20 January 1985.
