44.2 to DJ Hussey, good reflexes from Sehwag! Zaheer fires it full on the pads and Hussey tries to work that away past square leg with his wrists, he chips it and Sehwag at square leg has to time his dive well to his right, which he does, and takes it an inch from the ground. 235/5
10 | 1 | 58 | 2 | 5.80 | 28 | 5 | 0 | 1 | 1 | |
3.1 to RT Ponting, the opening experiment fails for Ponting, Vinay does well to pitch it up on the off stump, moves it away slightly, Ponting drives inside out and spoons it Kohli at point, Ponting looked at bit awkward at the crease when he played that and the follow through too. 14/1 49.2 to MS Wade, Wade's scratchy knock ends, he backs away to cart that over the on side and misses a slower ball, hits the leg stump, Wade is very frustrated for not making the most of the conditions. 265/7

17.5 to MJ Clarke, not sure what Clarke was trying to do but full credit to the bowler for this, he saw Clarke making room and taking a few paces down and cleverly slipped in a slower ball at 121 kph, Clarke had to change his shot and tap it away with soft hands, had to really stretch out and he ended up chopping it onto his stumps. 81/3 35.3 to PJ Forrest, miscued! Forrest tries to push it in the Powerplay, pulls a short delivery and fails to control it, Vinay runs forward from deep square leg and takes it, that ends a very impressive debut innings by Forrest. 179/4

32.2 to RG Sharma, Rohit's thrown it away! Very similar to Kohli's dismissal, he tries to loft through the line off a length ball, he skies it to Starc who runs forward from long-on. Rohit probably didn't realise it takes a lot more power to clear the straight boundaries. 166/3

9.4 | 1 | 53 | 3 | 5.48 | 31 | 3 | 1 | 2 | 1 | |
9.1 to V Sehwag, the opening stand is over, Sehwag is gone, an ordinary delivery from McKay, short of length ball that was slanting down the leg side, should have been easily helped away, instead Sehwag closes the face too early, leading edge results, and the ball pops up for a simple catch to point, a sign of the poor form he is in. 52/1 18.1 to V Kohli, just when Kohli was looking set, he tries to go over the top of the off side, stays at the crease and doesn't get the elevation, Forrest takes it at sweeper cover. 90/2 34.1 to G Gambhir, the bowling change works! Lands it on leg, Gambhir had already shuffled across the stumps a bit and had exposed the leg stump, the ball nipped in slightly and hit his pads, the umpire reckoned that was hitting leg, on seeing the pitch map, the ball looked like pitching on the border of the leg stump line. 178/4

46.1 to SK Raina, well is that a twist? Credit to the bowler here, he tossed it up and invited Raina to give him the charge, Raina almost ended up yorking himself, the ball went straight through the gap between bat and pad and thudded the stumps. 239/5 48.4 to RA Jadeja, another twist! Doherty bowls this one a bit flatter, Jadeja gets on his knee and slogs and tries to clear deep midwicket, straight down Ponting's throat. 257/6 |
