Tait: Junaid an able replacement for Wahab

Pakistan fast bowler Wahab Riaz will take no further part in the Champions Trophy, after injuring his ankle while bowling against India on Sunday. A scan confirmed a "deltoid ligament complex", and Wahab will need two weeks to recover.

Wahab, who returned the most expensive figures in the Champions Trophy with 87 off 8.1 wicketless overs against India, twisted his ankle in his follow-through in the 46th over of the innings. The PCB has put in a request for a replacement player to the ICC Technical Committee.

In four ODIs this year, Wahab has conceded 260 runs and taken two wickets at an average of 130 and an economy rate of 7.72.

Apart from Hasan Ali and Mohammad Amir, who was also forced off the field with cramps against India, Pakistan's only other fast bowling options in the squad are Junaid Khan and allrounder Faheem Ashraf.

Pakistan's second group game is against South Africa on June 7, at Edgbaston.

@PPL11... that was not enough to play for long years for pakistan.. his figures were 54/2 on that match.. after that spell Watson thrashed him badly.. but that is not reason to continue him just for that spell... teams need consistent performances ... he even not takes 3 or 4 wickets in an inning!!! hope he will never come back in Pak team...

Pakistan best bowler in last 5 year is Sadaf hussain with bowling average of 18. no other bowler has taken more wickets than him still not get chance to play for pakistan as a result he went to england and will see him in english colors. Pcb does not select players on merit and player like imran tahir and sadaf hussain play for other countries.

Young Pakistani players have done really well in Pakistan cup recently but PCB mafia dont want players on merit. Honestly Sarfraz better resign from captaincy after c.t if he does not get the team on merit otherwise PCB mafia will kick him out after some looses. Pakistan will continue loosing with players like Ahmed Shahzad, Hafeez, Malik, Wahab and ukmal's. Sarfraz must ask for under 25 players to make a good team for 2019 world cup. And if PCB denies he must resign. Because if Sarfraz wants captaincy he must be brave like Imran Khan.

Get well soon, champ. The tournament, neigh world cricket is lesser for the absence of this brute of a first bowler. Anyone criticising him is no fan of Pakistan, he's known as the third W for a reason. Waqar, Wasim and Wahab. Pls publish, inshallah. The boy play good.

Pakistan should let all opposition teams make selection for Pakistani playing 11. I bet they will make better selection to play a competitive match.

If this test work they can take it step further and let the opposing team do captaincy as well.

Wahab doesn't deserve a place in all 3 formats. Dump him. Make him improve his run per over, his no ball problem, his wayward length problem, his running on the pitch problem. So many problems are there.

Pakistan has to have a potential to score 300+ scores in ODI either batting first or second. they desperately need a pinch hitter at no.7. wickets in ct 2017 are flat and not offering any spin or movement for fast bowlers. it will be a containing act for the bowlers. 6+ run rate is normal for any team batting first or second. mental toughness is required to beat teams like india, aus, sa and nz which I believe at the moment pak team doesn't possess. they are more concerned about their places in the team, becos performances are not great except for one or two players. In these situation team doesn't win matches.

Pakistan has a chance now . they should bring new /fresh faces and also remove at least Shehzad Ahmed and hafeez because they are in poorest form.
