Injured Bravo set to miss next two WI games

Darren Bravo is expected to miss at least the next two matches of West Indies' World Cup campaign after suffering a low-grade tear to his left hamstring. Bravo was forced to retire hurt on 49 during West Indies' win over Pakistan in Christchurch after he suffered the injury completing a quick single.

West Indies play Zimbabwe in Canberra on Tuesday and then travel to Sydney for a match against South Africa on Friday, and Bravo is likely to be unavailable for at least those two games. However, they then have a full week's break before taking on India at the WACA, and Bravo's progress will be reassessed in the lead-up to that game.

Bravo left the field on a motorised cart with his left leg raised after he hurt himself taking the single in the 32nd over, and he was not required to bat again as West Indies posted a hefty 310 for 6. He took no part in their fielding effort, having been sent for an MRI scan to assess the extent of the injury.

Already it had been a painful day for Bravo, who had earlier been struck in the side of the helmet by a throw from Younis Khan while taking a run. In the 24th over of the innings, Marlon Samuels pushed the ball to cover and took off for a single; Bravo stretched to make his ground at the striker's end and Younis' throw hit him on the left side of the helmet.

Bravo spent several minutes on the ground and appeared to be in pain as he was assessed by the physio. However, it was eventually decided he would bat on. Bravo was on 30 at the time, and went on to score 19 more before retiring hurt.
