Shabbir Ahmed: off to Australia to remove the chinks in his action

The Pakistan board has decided to send Shabbir Ahmed to Australia where he will work with Daryl Foster on his bowling action.

Shabbir had his action reported after a one-dayer against New Zealand at Wellington in January. Rameez Raja, the board's chief executive, said Foster was probably the best bowling action specialist in the field today. He said, "He previously worked with Shoaib Akhtar when the speedster faced problems some time ago."

Foster has worked with Pakistan as a bowling coach before, inlcuding the 2003 World Cup.

Raja added that Shabbir was "an asset", saying that the board's policy was to protect and safeguard such players. Shabbir will spend at least a week in Australia and will return before the Indian series to start his rehabilitation process under Pakistan's own bowling experts.

He will fly to Australia as soon as the PCB can obtain a visa for him.
