'Unfair' treatment hurts Kamran

Kamran Akmal, the Pakistan wicketkeeper, has expressed his disappointment at being left out from the Test and ODI squads for the tour of Sri Lanka. Kamran was also sacked from the list of centrally contracted players last month.

"I am hurt and disappointed at not making the Pakistan squad for the Sri Lanka tour and also at not being given a central contract," Kamran said. "They didn't even invite me for the summer training camp."

Kamran was part of Pakistan's squad that played in the World T20s in Bangladesh. Tournament winners in 2009, Pakistan failed to qualify for the semi-finals. Kamran, who opened the innings during the competition, was dismissed for single-digit scores in three out of the four matches. However, he said that an extended run could have helped.

"It is not fair to judge a senior player without giving him a proper run. In the World T20 except for Umar Akmal and Ahmed Shahzad which player performed well?" he asked.

"I can still give a lot to Pakistan and since I lost my place as a regular member of the side, I have gone back and performed in domestic cricket."

Kamran last played a Test in 2010 and his last ODI was the Champions Trophy match against India in June 2013. He was brought back into the national team for the World T20s and made an encouraging start in the warm-up matches, scoring an unbeaten 52. But the form ran out as soon as the group stages kicked off. Kamran, however, was not satisfied with the treatment he has received from the home board.

"You only become a senior player after having played for a long time and performing well for the country. I just think it is not fair the way seniors are treated in Pakistan cricket because once they are mature it is the right time to make use of them."

Why would PCB not play Kamran as a batsman instead of Keeper batsman Kamran is good enough to be playing as a specialist batsman I am not sure if there is another experienced and talented replacement out there at this time. We are not blessed like India in Batting department that even their bench strengthen averages more than our regular batters. Kami can play at any position and has good temperament. I am sure once he is relieved from Keeping, he will emerge as even better player since he will not be bringing his keeping issues with him while batting. The issue is not with our batsmen, it is with our coach selection. Look at India, in last 20 years, most of their coaches have been top class batsman(mostly openers), which now reflects in their batting lineup and even their bench strength . I am not sure what Waqar can bring on new to the table. We are already good within bowling dept and once again here we have Waqar an we are paying extra for a mediocre batting coach.

Kamran Akmal cant do much with the bat now and his wicket keeping skills are okay. Pakistan has 3 keepers atm: Umar,Adnan and Sarfraz but PCB should give chances to other keepers too. keepers like Mohammad Rizwan,Jamal Anwar,Saifullah Khan,Ameer Hamza and maybe even Zulqarnain Haider. PCB should develop these wicket keepers and include them in the Pakistan A squad.

I concur the old names must go including Kamran Akmal.....shocking keeping and totally inconsistent with the bat. Poor body language.

kamran akmal, like prior, has a had an extremely brilliant career and saved Pakistan through many tough and difficult situations, but now it's time for him to hang up the cap. He was not scorin like he used to and keeping very badly by missing stumpings and dropping catches, Sarfraz Ahmed is the next test wicketkeeper as he showed against Sri Lanka with both bat and gloves, then Umar Akmal, probably next t20 captain will be the definite white ball keeper

We Pakistani cricket supporters are shocked and dissapointed with Kamran's failures as a batsmen and as a wicketkeeper. Pakistan must look to the next generation and Kamran's presence in the team will bring down the performance of the other players not to mention the performance of his brothers. Who have shown themselves to protect Kamran at any point they feel the need to.

I think that Kamran Akmal must deserve a place, he has contributed alot for Pakistan in the past but specially since Misbah became a captain he has destroy so many players Specially he neglected Shoaib Malik, Kamran Akmal, Umar Akmal, Umar Amin & so many.................. I do not understand until yet that what he want? He labelled Malik, Kamran Akmal, Umar Akmal as T20 Players................ But fortunately Umar Ukmal get the opportunity in test. Malik was a Captain & after Misbah captaincy he got a T20 labelled Player.............And wht about Younus Khan..........So many players..........over all Kamaran must deserve a place...........

There are many players who played well under Inzimam but as soon as he left, the captaincy issue and rift in the team started. Guys like Shoaib malik and Kamran akmal don't deserve any position in the team again.

I am extremely delighted at the Board's decision. The noun Akmal has been a plague for Pakistan cricket for long now. Hope even better sense prevails and the other two Akmals are shown the door also, for the sake of Pakistan cricket.

I'm so glad we're finally trying to move away from some of these players. There was a time where Kamran was good, but it's over now. It's about time we start looking towards the 2015 world cup and build a proper team for it.

Shortly before the most recent T20I world cup tournament, when there was a bit of an uproar about his selection he said "all I ask for is three innings, give me three innings to perform" .... He failed and now he wants more. Pakistan cricket deserves better.
