8.37pm Rain forces abandonment of the second T20I between SL and Pakistan in Dambulla. That's all she wrote for today. Goodbye and good night.

8.15pm No positive update yet. The rain and the wait continues in Dambulla.

7.55pm Thanks, Hemant. Hello, everyone. I'm afraid I don't bring good news. The drizzle has become heavier and threatens a washout.

Zeb: "Bummer, I was looking forward for the 2nd t20 game, which SL really wants to win."

hamza: "Rain in Colombo, sunshine in Malta, cruel contrast! One hour from off duty here, hoping to catch a reduced-overs game."

And with that, Deivarayan Muthu is here to take over.

hamza: "can we get the update regarding covers are off or on pls" -- Seems it's again raining and the covers are on.

7.20pm No news from the ground, and I guess no news is bad news in this case. Either way, the wait continues.

Rauf: "Just now came to know that match is delayed by rain. I am not much bothered about today's match But really worried about the coming world cup matches due to expected rain intervention in the region. The things have been advanced so there must be some solution for the big matches with regard to rain. I mean to say that there should be indoor stadiums as well"

6.50pm Looks like the rain has stopped. Some of the covers have been removed.

jov: "SLs batting seems too reliant on the top order. Especially if Nissanka fails to give a strong start, the middle order seems to lack the ability to recover and finish well. Not sure it's even a personnel issue though since so many players have been tried out in the middle order"

6.40pm The toss has been delayed due to rain. As is the case in Sri Lanka always, the whole ground has been covered.

Nibraz Ramzan: "Heading from Kandy to the Dambulla stadium, and the rain has been following us the entire journey, a constant drizzle all the way. Fingers crossed for a dry match."

6.20pm What can Sri Lanka look to do? They had picked Dhananjaya de Silva for the previous game - his first T20I since the last T20 World Cup. Even though he scored only 10 off as many balls, it will be unfair to drop him after just one game, especially where everyone else also struggled. They can make a change to their bowling, though, and bring in Matheesha Pathirana for Nuwan Thushara.

Dr Tamoor: "Pakistan doesn't need to make wholesome changes to their lineup tonight but they might look to trial the bench strength for example trialing hard hitting Nafay and Samad!"

6.10pm Pakistan had a near-perfect game last time. Near-perfect because they dropped two catches in the field. Apart from that, their coach Mike Hesson was pleased with his team's effort.

Alex: "Any word on weather or conditions? Coming in to watch the cricket from another town and want to make sure it's going ahead after today's rain !" -- There's forecast for a couple of showers but they are unlikely to last long enough to wash out the game.

6pm Hello and welcome to our coverage of the second T20I between Sri Lanka and Pakistan in Dambulla. Pakistan registered a comfortable win in the first game. After winning the toss on a two-paced pitch, they bowled out Sri Lanka for 128 and then chased it down with six wickets and 20 balls to spare. They will be keen keep the momentum going and wrap up the series tonight itself. Do read Andrew Fidel Fernando's preview.
