length again, Sree comes halfway down the track again, and carves it over cover yet again, but can only get four of the 11 Punjab need to get on the victory board.
Chargers vs Kings XI, 12th match at Cuttack, IPL, Mar 19 2010 - Match Result
Deccan have defeated Punjab by six runs. Their first win in five games against this side, and what's more - their first win at any "home" venue in the IPL (and in the Champions League). As the DJ is shouting - "Go Chargers!"
Tragedy for Punjab. Irfan played a blinder and they still fell short, which shows just how badly they went in the first half of the chase. Big problems for them as they look to turn around this IPL, winless after three matches, like Rajasthan Royals.
The points table wears a funny look now, with six teams tied on four points, though they have played a different number of games. Punjab and Rajasthan languish at the bottom of the table. Two of the best teams in IPL 2008 - things have changed drastically in two years.
That concludes our commentary for this game. On behalf of scorer Gopi Rangarajan and the rest of the desk, this is Nitin Sundar signing off. Cheers!
fulltoss again, Sree is out once again and this time swings it away to extra cover for four.
15 off 2. Not possible without extras.
and misses again, length ball, Sree can't make contact. Through to Gilchrist.
lands it this time. Sreesanth charges out again, but its a length ball and he cannot connect. Dot ball.
Sree jumps out and is susprised by a high fulltoss. Goes for an almighty swing, which somehow connects and inexplicably runs to the third man fence.
and Irfan goes, what a tragedy! Length ball again on off stump, and Irfan looks for the fence over cow corner, but he has the small matter of getting past that man, Andrew Symonds. Ain't happening today, Symmo takes the catch easily and Irfan has to go. Huge wicket and belatedly, one believes the last nail on the coffin.
Jaskaran to bowl. Hmmm.
Manish: "Fingers crossed.. Legs crossed... Toes crossed.. what else is crossed"
and he gets the yorker in finally. Irfan squeezes it away to deep point and crucially retains strike for the last over.
it falls in no man's land! Short ball, goes for the pull and top edges it, but there's no one at deep square to take it.
Irfan, I'm your fan! Another big hit, he's turning it on here. Goes over long on this time, the length ball is not working. RP needs to find the yorker.
expertly threaded through the covers! Full on offstump, Irfan went over cover and found the gap. Superb fifty this.
drilled down to long off, only for a single. Pressure's on Irfan.
good ball from RP. On the length, and Bipul can't get it past RP.
33 from 12. Is there a twist in the tail?
full on Bipul's legs and he can't do much with it. Just a single down to midwicket.
gets it away square to the leg side for one.
Symmo shows how it is done! Well swept again by Irfan to square leg and Symmo puts in a big dive, running in from midwicket, to stop it from going for four.
wide down the leg and it's taken some pad and run away to the boundary. Hiccups in the Deccan camp!
well hit and very badly fielded at deep midwicket. Down on one knee and hit hard, and it went through the fielder's legs.
Righto, this is not over yet!
mis-hit this time, its outside offstump and Irfan top-edges the slog this time. It flies to the vacant third man region and goes into the bounday boards after one bounce. Finally some spunk from Punjab
again! Irfan's batted superbly today, and there's no let up, he's sent it in the same direction, flatter and over the ropes
