South Australia trump Victoria in exciting finish

Jake Lehmann's 63 off 25 balls, and exploits from Callum Ferguson and Jake Weatherald, took South Australia to victory over Victoria and up to second place in the tournament table

South Australia 6 for 356 (Ferguson 73, Weatherald 71, Lehmann 63*, Ahmed 3-62) beat Victoria 8 for 345 (Dean 119, Short 81, Kelly 4-25) by 11 runs
A powerful batting display lifted South Australia to victory over Victoria and up to second place on the domestic limited overs tournament table on an entertaining afternoon at North Sydney Oval.
Jake Lehmann crashed 63 from a mere 25 balls to put that capstone on a Redbacks innings that also featured telling contributions from Jake Weatherald (71 off 51 balls) and the captain Callum Ferguson (73 from 72). Cameron Valente then chimed in for 36 off 17 balls included a quartet of sixes - he and Lehmann added an eye-popping 84 in 33 balls.
Their aggression made it a difficult debut for the teenage allrounder Will Sutherland, who had the returned figures of 1 for 56 from eight overs before being run out seeking a second run in the Bushrangers' ailing pursuit. However, the heaviest punishment was inflicted upon the sometime Australian ODI seamer Scott Boland, who was hammered for 75 from six overs.
Lacking an injured Cameron White at the top of the order, Victoria were given a fighting chance in their chase by Matt Short's fluent 81 and a sparkling century from Travis Dean. However the dismissal of the captain Peter Handscomb for only 21 helped stall the Bushrangers' progress, and Valente's three wickets helped ensure that the Redbacks finished 11 runs in credit.
