5.30 PM ...The ground remains unplayable. Match Referee Venkatapathi Raju has taken the two captains out to toss for the result. Raju tossed. Lahiru Thirimanne called. "Tails". Tails it was. Sri Lanka are through to the Asian Games Final where they play Afghanistan for gold tomorrow. Big cheers from them. Groans from Bangladesh. No rain is forecast for the Final, or the Bronze Medal playoff where Bangladesh take on Hong Kong.

No team wants to lose the right to win an Asian Games gold medal on a coin toss, everyone keen to play cricket to win. And yet....

5.15 PM The covers are still on, the outfield has a couple of wide puddles. Race against time to ready the ground for 'OOPS', One Over Per Side

4.57 PM Bangladesh are on the outfield with a football, still very wet out there, there is a terrific sand-drainage system but 4 mm of rain have fallen in the past two hours and that's asking a lot of any ground.

4.47 PM Who'd a thunk watching grass dry could be so exciting? The big sheets covering the square are being taken off. With so much water on their surface, it is a delicate operation. If 5 overs are possible Sri Lanka's target is 38.

4.30 PM Which indeed they have, the rain has stopped. Just one swatch of dark cloud coming in with the breeze above the ground. The ground staff are on. Let's see what they can do. 5.10 PM is the cut off time for Sri Lanka to bat 5 overs and make a match of it according to a Duckworth/Lewis target.

The only consolation is that, the heavier the rain, the quicker the clouds above Yeonhui can empty. It's a fast-draining ground, I am forever the optimist. What about you all?
