Table-toppers Sydney Sixers collapsed to 99 all out in a chase of 136 to give Perth Scorchers their second victory of the Big Bash League at the SCG on Monday.
A promising partnership of 44 between Riki Wessels and Moises Henriques had steadied the Sixers' chase after they were struggling at 2 for 15 by the fifth over. Wessels' dismissal for 28 in the 11th over, however, triggered a collapse that saw the side lose their last eight wickets for 40 runs. Matt Dixon, Yasir Arafat, Andrew Tye and Ashton Turner picked up two wickets each, while Jason Behrendorff took one wicket.
Scorchers began their innings well as the openers Marcus Harris (36) and Michael Klinger put on a partnership of 33 in four overs and Harris and Adam Voges built on that platform with a 31-run stand for the second wicket. However, Sixers fought back with quick wickets and stifled the run-scoring. Scorchers put up 2 for 73 in the first 10 overs and the second half of the innings produced 62 runs, of which 27 were scored in the last five overs.
