Rahat Ali bowls Baluchistan to victory

A round-up of the third day of the fourth round of Pentangular Cup matches

Rahat Ali took 5 for 36 to help Baluchistan bowl out Federal Areas for 121 in the final innings and secure a 149-run victory on the third day at the Multan Cricket Stadium. Play had resumed with Baluchistan's second innings in progress and they were on 138 for 4, leading by 182 runs. Taimur Ali had to retire hurt on his overnight 34 and Baluchistan's batsmen failed to shut Federal Areas out of the match after that. Naved Yasain remained unbeaten on 70 but the rest of the middle and lower order was dismissed cheaply. Iftikhar Anjum took 6 for 43 to skittle Baluchistan for 226, ahead by 271 runs. Federal Areas' openers added 28 during the chase before the collapse began. They lost their first two wickets for the addition of one run, and the next two with the score on 43. Rahat Ali razed the middle order to ensure there would be no fightback.
Usman Salahuddin scored an unbeaten century to build Punjab a formidable first-innings lead, after which Raza Hasan's three wickets left Sind struggling to avoid defeat at the Gaddafi Stadium. Resuming on 57, with Punjab on 341 for 6, Salahuddin went on to make 102 off 185 balls, extending the advantage from 116 overnight to 201. Punjab were eventually dismissed for 426. Sind's openers, Shahzaib Hasan and Sharjeel Khan, added 69 before Hasan made the first breakthrough. Sind then slipped from 101 for 1 to 110 to 4 before Saeed Bin Nasir scored an unbeaten 55 to lead them to 227 for 5 at stumps. They lead by 26 and have only five second-innings wickets in hand.
