Punjab's 19-year old left-arm spinner, Raza Hasan, took 5 for 68 to help set up what should be a straightforward run-chase for his team to win their Pentangular Cup match against Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Province in Lahore. Hasan was well supported by fast bowler Bilawal Bhatti, who took 3 for 47 as Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa were dismissed for 241 in their second innings, setting Punjab a target of only 74.
Punjab also had Usman Salahuddin to thank for building a strong first-innings lead. They began the third day on 325 for 9, leading by 115 runs, and Salahuddin extended that advantage by 52 with the last man Mohammad Khalil. In the process, Salahuddin converted his overnight 72 into a century and was unbeaten when Khalil fell with Punjab on 377, ahead by 167 runs. Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa's Khalid Usman took 5 for 89.
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa began their second innings with promise. Their openers Yasir Hameed and Mohammad Fayyaz added 80. The spinners then began to work through the top order and five wickets fell for 63 runs. There was a 50-run stand for the sixth wicket but the last five batsmen fell for 48 runs. Yasir's 80 was the innings' top score.
