Daniel Flynn was the solitary performer with the bat for Northern Districts, whereas Otago did not have any standout performers but benefited from a collection of useful innings to secure a three-wicket victory at Seddon Park.
Northern Districts had made a brisk start after winning the toss, with their openers adding 43 in five overs before Brad Wilson was dismissed. Flynn hit three sixes in his 79 off 53 balls, but only two of Northern Districts' next nine batsmen made it into double figures, and they did not pass 20 either. After Scott Styris retired hurt, Northern Districts collapsed from 109 for 3 to 151 for 8 in 20 overs. Neil Wagner picked up 4 for 33 for Otago.
Otago's chase was hindered by the fall of regular wickets but they had useful stands at the top of the order, with all of the top five batsmen getting starts. Ryan ten Doeschate's 29 was the top score though. They were well placed at 122 for 3 when there was a serious wobble and four wickets fell for the addition of only 12 runs. From 134 for 5, Iain Robertson blitzed 21 off 11 balls to lead Otago home with seven balls to spare.
