quick length delivery, very very quick outside off, the batsman makes room, but can't do much, it comes into the batsman too quickly, he can only slap it to long-off
RCB vs SRH, 7th match at Hyderabad, IPL, Apr 07 2013 - Match Result
Match tied (SRH won the one-over eliminator)
Well it's only the first week of the tournament and almost every game has been exciting. We will be back tomorrow with more. Till then, this is an exhausted Devashish Fuloria signing off... Buenos Noches...
Sangakkara: "All credit to the team, the ways the guys fought. If it's Chris and Virat, you just have to bowl the yorkers, and special thanks to White and Perera the way they handled the super over, but Hanuma Vihari was excellent with the bat. These two games at home were very good for us, we are hoping to get more good games. Today I came in at no. 5 as there were two Murali's in the opposition."
Kohli: "It was a great comeback by the boys, but 27 off 14 in that situation, we should have pulled off the game there and then, but all credits to the guys. My beard is greying (because of these thrillers). We should have fielded better, should have saved those ones and twos here and there."
Hanuma Vihari is Man of the Match: "last five years I have been watching this on TV, but this is my first IPL and I am very happy. I thought when I bowled to Gayle that I had nothing to lose, if I get a wicket that would be a bonus. I have been playing cricket since I was nine, and this is the biggest day for me. "
Virat Kohli gets a prize for maximum sixes, the innovative thinker of the match award goes to Hanuma Vihari for getting rid of Gayle early..
jackthelad: "Steyn is as fast as you can get at the moment, and that pace is enough. Neville Cardus once asked a batsman who had faced Kortright (arguably the fastest bowler ever) 'But what did he do - did he swerve, or bend ...' "He bowled fast, there wasn't time for anything else""
chibi: "finally a non West Indian contribution day for a wins in IPL..!!"
Indian: "Why does cricinfo have a column for tie in the points table when in fact a super over gets played to break the tie? A disappointed RCB fan looking for at least that consolation point."
Can you believe it! Sunrisers have two wins in two..Their bowlers bowled really well, but their batsmen made it into a laborious task!
BK: "Looks like speed gun got stuck at 147.3 kph for both the super overs! No problem if you want me believe that when Steyn was bowling but Vinay Kumar bowling 147kph?! Seriously, IPL should do better with these speed guns given their financial gains! "
I don't care BK, those bolts from Steyn looked like 150 kph to me, there were extremely quick and you could tell that by the way Kohli and Gayle struggled to hit those deliveries. What a match though! Gayle hit that penultimate ball out of the ground, briefly giving RCB hope, but Steyn was too good in the end. Also, a great effort by Cameron White to smoke those crucial sixes in the super over.
Indian: "How crucial was that waist high full toss by Perera which was not given a no-ball when RCB batted? :("
pradyumna: "Those who are thinking about Steyn vs Gayle hope u people found the answer."
Ross Lawson: "The two best players for a super over, Steyn and Gayle. The bowler looked so cool under pressure, even after Gayle smoked him for a six!"
Varunn: "I don't care what everyone thinks but Vinay Kumar should be the MoM for this game because of all the excitement and fun he has bought to this game..."
pradyumna: "Gayle played his natural game of taking singles at the start and massive hit at the last.."
he has got under that one, it was just a bit off the length, Gayle got his bat under it and that's all he needs, he clobbers it to the sight screen
full, fast and on the base of off stump, Kohli has no time to get under it, he can only jab it down to long on, excellent bowling, 147 kph
short of length delivery, very quick again, 147 kph, Kohli is beaten for the pace, but manages to adjust and deflect it fine on the leg side as the line was on the pads, it earns him a crucial boundary
another full delivery, another very fast delivery, 147 kph it says, that is too quick for Gayle who only manages to block it out to long-on
he bowls it full and fast and on the middle stump, Gayle wanted to launch it over long-on, but gets an inside edge to deep square leg. That was a pacy pacy delivery
Steyn is getting his shoulder warmed up at the other end, his extra pace could be what the batsmen need.
Sanga and Moody have got their troops around them, White is the one giving loud instructions though.
Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli are walking towards the middle.
Gayle will take the strike - He can do it in four balls, he doesn't need six. However, Steyn is no slouch with the ball.
They have scored a massive 20 runs, which is the minimum you need when you know Gayle and Dilshan are coming next.
How timely were those two sixes? Perera was supposed to do the damage, but he didn't really get strike and Cameron White got them just the right kind of total
Surely it will be Dale Steyn coming in
another length delivery, this time he hoicks it to the leg side, doesn't get hold of it and this one goes to deep midwicket
fuller delivery outside off, the batsman loves it, slams it over long-off this time, again, he didn't get much timing, he hits it off the toe-end and it clears the fielder, just
attempts a yorker, but it's a low full toss on the pads, the batsman flicks it to deep backward square where Murali keeps them to just a couple
short of length delivery, White gives it a thwack, and it looks like he hasn't timed it at all, but the ball goes and goes and goes, over long-on
bowls a super yorker from round the wicket, the batsman digs it out towards deep midwicket, just a single.. there was a misfield, but they couldnt take advantage
short of length delivery, very quick as well, the batsman wanted to pull it over midwicket, ends up hitting it back past the bowler to long-off
owls a very high full toss, it will be a no-ball, the batsman only hits it as far as mid-off, but an extra nonetheless
White and Perera come in to bat
Venkatesh Prasad is talking to Kohli explaining the big strategy - I am not sure if there is one, there might be though..
Vinay is back, he is going up to his mark
This was madness, this was fun.. Vinay bowls an excellent last over, Vihari got stuck at the other end for most of it
We'll be in super over, and there are more and more conferences everywhere, they are all down at the centre.. lots of discussions going on
Sunrisers will get to bat first
slower delivery, he misses it but runs a bye.. the keeper misses the stumps.. it's a tie.. it's a tie
Two of the last ball. .Everyone off their seats..Steyn says something to Vihari..
bowls an excellent yorker on off stump, the batsman can only dig it out towards mid-off, and guess what, these two steal a couple.. there was a single in it.. at max.. Kohli lets Agarwal know what he thinks of that effort.. Vinay is livid too..
Vihari is finally on strike.. 4 off 2.. tension everywhere.. Kohli is animated in getting his men in right places..
low full toss on the stumps, Steyn can only play a mistimed drive towards long-on
another good slower delivery, it misses Steyn's hoick and it misses the off stump by a whisker!! Vihari watches it all from the other end..
5 from 4...
slower delivery, Steyn watches it carefully and punches it to wide long-off for a couple
caught at cover! Reddy gives it away, it was a high full toss, just below the waist, the batsman tries to give it everything, but gets a leading edge that only goes 10 meters high (roughly) and Kohli at cover takes an easy catch
Just seven required.. Can be done off two balls.. Vinay Kumar it is.. Most fielders in the circle on off, except long-off
Bonnke: "God knows where these guys come from - Ashish and Vihari! Thats what is nice about the IPL -- it throws up talents from nowhere across the country."
fuller delivery outside off, he goes inside out over extra cover, but that was off the toe-end, long-off charges in to keep them to a single
another one fired on the middle stump, the batsman laps it to short fine leg for a single
kartik grover: " 'Should be' is a very dangerous thing to say Dev"
quicker delivery on off stump, the batsman cuts it late and straight to Gayle at point, who fires it in, but had it hit, Vihari was gone..
bowls a fuller delivery wide outside off, the batsman was making room and he hits it inside out, hits it high and not long, the ball just drops short of long-off fielder
Viral Patel: "Vinay Kumar brought Bangalore back in the game with run out and then brought Sun Risers back in the game with expensive over giving away a six and a four."
fuller delivery outside off, the batsman drives it in the air through cover for a single
Round the wicket now
he comes down the crease and slaps the length delivery down to long-off as Murali Kartik comes over the wicket
14 from 12 now.. It should be Sunrisers game from here..
slower delivery on off stump, Vihari gets down on his knee as he spots it early and whacks it in the gap at cow corner, well picked there, in the gap..
he tries it again, but this time it is too quick for him, mistimes it to long on
he has found the range just in time, it was a length ball on stumps, the batsman arches back and gives it a mighty thwack over long-on, it just clears the boundary
back of length, it follows the batsman as he makes room, he can only hit it as far as Gayle at cover
slower delivery on off stump, the batsman drags it towards midwicket without any timing, they steal a single
length delivery aimed at the stumps, the batsman drives it to mid-off for a single
Vinay Kumar, the hero of the last match and the super fielder a few minutes ago, is back into the attack
quicker delivery outside off, the batsman goes for a cut but is beaten
Johnty Rhodes: "Is this finally the season when fielding will actually get its due credit and win matches. Almost every match is being decided by a moment of brilliance in the field."
tossed up delivery, the batsman charges down and drives, but straight back to the bowler
