Warner of all men fumbles at long-on, it was a low full toss on the stumps, Rahul bunts it down the ground, Curran is coming back for the second, he has dropped his bat at the striker's end but Warner slips, he still tries to balance himself and throw in the ball, too late though
SRH vs Kings XI, 22nd Match at Mohali, IPL, Apr 08 2019 - Ball by Ball Commentary
Kings XI won by 6 wickets (with 1 ball remaining)
That's all from our side for this match. See you tomorrow when table toppers KKR and CSK clash in Chennai. Goodbye!
Rahul: Didn't start off the way I wanted in the first couple of games. All the fifties have come in chasing and I am enjoying my batting. Been playing with Chris for a long time and have been playing Mayank since my childhood. The way Mayank came out, the way he was striking gave me a little bit of time. He hurt his finger, he was in pain, to play that sort of innings was incredible. I did tell Curran that hitting sixes was difficult, so look to hit the pockets. He tried to hit sixes but luckily for us, it went in the gaps.
KL Rahul is the Man of the Match.
Ashwin: Too close for comfort, to be brutally honest. The biggest positive for me is there is scope for improvement and there is enough capability in the dressing room to do that. I think we bowled extremely well to Warner, Ankit was splendid, Sam was brilliant. [On seven-match winning streak at home] I would love it be 11 in a row. It's very important on this ground to bowl spinners with the new ball and Mujeeb has always done it for Afghanistan.
Time for post-match presentation.
Sachinfan: "@Harshal, how about reading it as out of 9 played, he lost only 2?"
Rishabh: "SRH got steal of a deal in Abhishek Sharma, Shankar and Nadeem for Dhawan. Given the nature of pitches in IPL this time around, I fail to understand why they are not making use of the bowling skills of these three. "
Sunny: "WAts the role of mandeep singh? Karun should play rest matches instead of mandeep singh " -- I think Mandeep is a better batsman in the death overs
Raghu ifmr: "Is that innings KL Rahul's ticket to the UK?" -- You would think so
Samir: "Your prediction is right. Nabi did concede only 9 runs, however, two more conceded by misfields from Hooda and Warner :)"
Praveen kumar S: "SRH done well, but KXIP made sure its not another DC. Questions raise on Pathan's role, why Abhisek sharma was not in the squad, why hooda was not sent earlier"
Harshal Shah: "Second straight loss for Nabi. Is his luck fading away ?"
Agarwal: With 19 off 19, somebody had to take a chance. Definitely some nerves. One over 11 needed and Nabi bowling but we backed ourselves. [On batting with Rahul] We enjoy batting together. I am glad he was there till the end and could finish game off.
Bhuvneshwar: The way we bowled I am pretty happy given the dew. Still there are areas in our bowling we can improve. We were 20 runs short but what we all did believe in ourselves.
11.40pm What a game it turned out to be in the end. From 19 needed from the last three overs, Sandeep and Kaul bowled two excellent overs to leave Kings XI with 11 required from the last over. But Curran, Rahul and a bit of dew helped the home side over the line with one ball to spare. And with that win, Kings XI move to the third place on the points table.
2 off 2 now
fuller around off, and Rahul goes over the bowler's head, struck hard, Hooda sprints across from long-off, puts in a desperate dive but cannot reach there
6 off 3, will Nabi bowl an arm ball? Warner is instructing the fielders to come in a little bit. Bairstow and Nabi talking to each other
fuller outside off, Curran digs it out towards extra cover, Warner there but the throw is not quick enough and Curran makes it safely
fuller again, Curran has absolutely drilled it past Nabi, excellent work by Pandey from long-off to cut it off
a bit of misfield by Hooda at wide long-on, fuller on the stumps, Curran clears his front leg and hammers it
Woah! 11 needed off 6. Who would bowl the last over? Sam Curran is the new batsman. Nabi to bowl, around the wicket. Our predictor says Nabi would concede 9
Hooda pouches another one! Fuller around off and Mandeep looks to go aerial but cannot get the power behind it, Hooda comes forward and gets low and takes it comfortably
a high full toss around off, just below the waist, Rahul can bunt it only towards long-off, only one again
Just four singles so far
length ball on the stumps, goes for the pull but straight in the direction of deep midwicket
fuller around off, comes forward and flicks towards deep midwicket, Rahul was thinking of second initially but the fielder is quick to the ball
fuller around off, stays back and cuts it towards point
Mandeep Singh now, he too is a local player like Sid Kaul
a knuckle ball, length outside off, drives it towards sweeper cover
An excellent over by Sandeep, two wickets and just three runs. Sixteen needed off 12 now
Miller departs! Knuckle ball does the trick, fuller on the stumps and Miller looks to clear long-on but ends up skying it, Hooda takes a couple steps from long-on and settles under
Venky: "@vamshi. Not to mention its his home ground"
length ball around off, comes forward and punches it towards long-on
Krishna M V: "@hemant_brar .. Had those catches been taken off Bhuvi's bowling, then he would have been in the leading wicket takers of this IPL, bowling with a fire full of confidence... Catches not only wins matches... They also defins how the bowler bowls ... :("
length around off, comes forward and pushes it towards mid-off
slower one on the leg stump, comes forward and flicks it towards short midwicket
Miller to face
Vamshi: "Kaul was a revelation last year in the IPL, prompting his promotion to the Indian team also. He was disappointed this year for SRH. No doubt one of the reason for their middling record so far this year"
length around off, punches it towards long-on for one
short of length around off, clears his front leg and swats it towards deep midwicket, doesn't middle it though and Vijay Shankar makes no mistake at deep midwicket
Gaurav Sundararaman: Mohali's square boundaries are huge but the straight boundaries are short. Mayank has made good use of the same. In the home games so far he has scored 44 runs from 20 balls in the "V" scoring 4 sixes.
fuller on the stumps, comes forward and flicks, a tumbling stop by short midwicket
19 needed off 19
short of length outside off, cuts it hard but straight towards sweeper cover
length ball around off, lofts it down the ground, Pandey sprints in from long-on, gets to the ball, pushes it inside but not enough as it rolls back to touch the boundary line
Over 20 • KXIP 151/4
Kings XI won by 6 wickets (with 1 ball remaining)
