how smart is that from Smith, he walks out, pushes it calmly through extra cover, and happily jogs back for the second, Watson breaking into a wide smile and pumping his fist as he approaches his end
RR vs KKR, 19th match at Abu Dhabi, IPL, Apr 29 2014 - Match Result
Match tied (RR won the one-over eliminator)
So after the scores were tied even in the Super Over, Rajasthan win on the boundary count.
That is all for tonight. Good bye
James Faulkner, the Man of the Match: I am going to sleep well tonight and I am sure the rest of the squad is going to as well. In all seriousness, this is my first Super Over, I have watched a few in T20 cricket before. I got hit for a pretty big six in that last over. It has been a bit of a slow journey since I have had surgery.
Shane Watson: To be able to come out on top of such a game is a nice feeling for us. I was just going to run as fast as I could. Steve Smith is calm under pressure. We just needed two. He is a very skilled young fellow. It is great to have Jimmy back in form. He is a very key component of our team like he was last year. If you are on the wrong side of this (match), it can be disappointing as well.
Gautam Gambhir: Very disappointed being on the losing side. We deserve to be in a better position, all the games we have lost we were in positions we could have won. It was important (his returning to form). Someone has to try and be positive upfront, that is my job, that has been my job last three years, hopefully from here on, I can be more aggressive at the top. We keep talking about the wicket in Kolkata, (but) we have an attack suited for most conditions.
Steve Smith: Very happy. It is exciting for cricket, a Super Over. Chasing 12 in a Super Over is quite a tough task. Just happy to get there. Jimmy (Faulkner) bowled an unbelievable over. The way we finished was amazing. (Narine) is a quality bowler. We knew it was going to be tough. Watto said he was going to bowl flat and short. He got one away to the boundary. My job was to hit the gaps and take twos.

Maximus: "One of the best super over games you've got to say. But, what is the real need for it in the round robin stage...why can't a tied game be just that...a tie. The teams fought it out for 20 overs and deserved to split the points. You don't need a super over until the knockout phase of the tournamnet"
Kumaran: "That was sensible batting from Smith, kept cool and nudged the last ball for a couple.. knowing the equation that they would win it with a couple.. Fabulous!! excellent thinking and the best part was he did not overhit Narine and risk his wicket.."
RR will win this if they tie the scores, as they have hit more boundaries
straighter one again, Watson swings hard but can only hit it down to long off, they want a second but have to head back in the end
deep midwicket was not deep enough, Watson slogged this length ball flat in the air, Pandey was too far in to have a chance with this even though he jumped
sets himself up for the reverse sweep early, this is headed down leg actually, but he drags it to point for a single
whipped through midwicket, they take two by the time long on runs around
straighter one pitched up, Watson clobbers it straight down to long off
Narine will bowl for KKR. Gambhir has a chat with him. Smith and Watson walk out to bat for RR. Binny is also padded up.
moves across to a low full toss but can only hit it along the ground to long on, they try a second but Samson collects the wide throw and leaps towards the stumps to catch Shakib short
Faulkner responds with a yorker on middle stump, Pandey digs it out to the leg side
Pandey's got one away, he's stepped forward to a widish length ball and slammed it over long on, pumping his fist as he makes the connection
Faulkner goes full and straight on the stumps, Shakib drills it back, Faulkner is in the way though and it smacks into his boot
Pandey comes out to this pitched up ball around off, can only nudge it in front of square on the leg side
we have a run out first ball in the Super Over, Yadav moves across to this full delivery on the pad, but cannot get hold of it, keeper dives and parries it away, he gets up, chases and throws it back, it is wide of the stumps, but Nair is around to gather and hit the stumps
Suryakumar Yadav and Shakib Al Hasan are the batsmen for KKR. James Faulkner will bowl for RR
So KKR have almost given it away once again. They were 137 for 4 needing 16 from 12. What an over that was from Faulkner
Adhithya S R: "The only thing missing from this leg in UAE was a super over. And guess what they managed to give us that too!!!"
scores are tied, Shakib drags this full delivery down the ground, long off rushes in but his throw is not strong enough to prevent the second, and we go into a Super Over
Shakib comes out and lofts wide of long off for a couple
not called a wide, Shakib went towards off to try and scoop it to fine leg, missed as it was slanted past leg stump
full on off, Narine tries to drive it through the covers, cannot get the mistimed stroke past the infield
he sends it way down the leg side from wide of the crease
a run-out now, Shakib backs away and forces a full delivery to long on, Chawla wants the second, Shakib does not and raises his hand, but Chawla is too far out already and is run out by miles as Smith fires it to the keeper
Shakib gets four first ball, he arches back to a high full toss and smears it through the covers, there is no sweeper
Faulkner just misses the hat trick, slow delivery bounces from a length, past Chawla's swipe, and goes over the stumps
Faulkner keeps hitting the stumps, another slower one, full on off stump this time, Vinay swings and misses
Uthappa's gone too far across, Faulkner bowls the slower one from back of the hand, good length on middle and leg, Uthappa misses, and Faulkner hits
Faulkner goes full into leg stump at 140 kph, Shakib gets a thick inside edge to fine leg
backs away to the leg side, Faulkner tries to follow him but sends it further down instead
another skier, this was down the leg side, and Shakib swung hard at it, but this time, it falls short of deep square leg running to his left
Faulkner's kept this alive, Yadav's skied this full and wide one slanted across him, and Smith has run in from long off and taken it in front of his head
tries to go square on the leg side from outside off, edges it into the helmet and it pops up close by
attacks a similar delivery and hits it to deep midwicket this time
swings at a pitched up delivery angled in but cannot get it away
over the stumps
another one, he goes deep in the crease to a full delivery and whips it through midwicket, timed well enough to beat long on
fine leg is up, Shakib pulls a shortish ball, and it runs past the fielder's dive, deep square chases and dives too, in vain
Amit: "Well..Surya Yadav is no doubt the most impressive batsman for KKR for this season so far.. !!"
full and wide one driven to sweeper cover
