Gujarat, Vidarbha collect three points

Gujarat enforced the follow-on after bowling 133.4 overs in the Punjab first innings but the visitors safely batted out a draw in Ahmedabad. Punjab began the last day on 219 for 4, trailing Gujarat by 294. Taruwar Kohli went on to make 71 and Gurkeerat Singh contributed 49 but that could not prevent Punjab from being bowled out for 362. Rujul Bhatt added five wickets with his offspin to his 150 with the bat as Gujarat collected three points. Jiwanjot Singh departed in the first over of the follow-on innings but Uday Kaul (67 not out) and Kohli (47 not out) played out the next 38 overs as Punjab reached 120 for 1.

Vidarbha did not ask their bowlers for another tilt after their efforts had earned the side three points with a massive first-innings lead over Saurashtra in Nagpur. Saurashtra were in trouble at the end of day three on 251 for 5 in pursuit of Vidarbha's 583, and the visitors managed to add 58 more before being dismissed in 138 overs. Offspinner Akshay Wakhare bowled 47 of those, conceding only 89 runs and picking up five wickets. Vidarbha openers Faiz Fazal and Sachin Katariya collected half-centuries in the second innings with the match drawn after 42 overs when the latter reached the landmark.
