Scorecard
Michael Hussey's dramatic exit on the final ball of the day left Western Australia in considerable trouble at 4 for 50 in their pursuit of 207 to defeat South Australia in the Sheffield Shield match at Adelaide Oval.
Joe Mennie and Chadd Sayers had struck a trio of important blows early in the Redbacks' defence, but it was Johan Botha's dismissal of Hussey - caught and bowled after checking a drive - that tilted the contest firmly towards the hosts.
In the first innings, Hussey's unbeaten 99 had taken WA to within 13 runs of first innings points after the loss of early wickets, underlining his potential to guide his side's chase.
Thanks largely to a compellingly mature bowling stint by Ashton Agar, who wheeled away for 22 overs to claim his first five-wicket haul in first-class matches, the Warriors had made most of the running on the third day, rushing through SA's top order then mopping up the tail.
Those passages bookended a valuable stand of 88 between the wicketkeeper Tim Ludeman and Botha, which ensured the visitors would be set a target of more than 200 on a surface where no batsman has ever looked completely comfortable.
