Ferguson fifty revives South Australia

An unbeaten fifty from Callum Ferguson steered South Australia to a respectable score after four wickets from left-arm spinner Steve O'Keefe had put them in trouble on the first day at the Adelaide Oval

South Australia 8 for 265 (Ferguson 79*, Zampa 48, O'Keefe 4-75) v New South Wales
Scorecard
An unbeaten fifty from Callum Ferguson steered South Australia to a respectable score after four wickets from left-arm spinner Steve O'Keefe had put them in trouble on the first day at the Adelaide Oval. Ferguson was accompanied by a handy 48 from No. 9 Adam Zampa which took them towards 250.
South Australia, who opted to bat, were given a stable start from openers Michael Klinger and Sam Raphael with a stand of 44. But once Trent Copeland broke the partnership, O'Keefe removed Klinger and Tom Cooper in consecutive deliveries and dismissed Andrew McDonald six overs later to leave the score at 80 for 4. Johan Botha resisted with Ferguson with a stand of 32, but was trapped lbw for 5, and Tim Ludeman and Kane Richardson fell for low double-digit scores to slip to 165 for 7.
Zampa and Ferguson consolidated for South Australia as the latter registered his 28th first-class fifty while the former fell short of his maiden by two runs. Zampa departed after five fours and a six and Ferguson was unbeaten on 79 with the score on 265 for 8.
