Tasmania 6 for 226 (Cowan 68, Silk 63, Zampa 2-58) v South Australia
Scorecard
Tasmania faltered against South Australia's spinners following a strong start to end the opening day on 6 for 226 in Adelaide. Tasmania were 1 for 132 but opener Jordan Silk's run-out gave South Australia an opening after which Adam Zampa and Johan Botha picked up three wickets between them.
Silk and Mark Cosgrove put on 52 for the first wicket after Tasmania chose to bat. The breakthrough for South Australia also came through a run-out, Cosgrove being sent back by Phillip Hughes' throw for 26. Silk and Ed Cowan then strung together the highest stand of the day, adding 80 to take Tasmania to a position of strength.
It was Silk's turn to be run out now, Tom Cooper ending the opener's innings on 63. Alex Doolan was stumped third ball off the legspinner Zampa. Ben Dunk could not hang around for too long, falling leg-before to Zampa for 10.
Cowan and James Faulkner sought to repair the damage, and their partnership had progressed to 38 before the former was bowled by South Australia captain Botha for 68. Botha's counterpart Tim Paine got a start as well, making 24 before he fell to Kane Richardson late in the day. Faulkner, stonewalling his way to 20 off 85, saw Tasmania through to stumps.
