A seven-wicket haul from offspinner
Michael Philipson couldn't prevent Queensland from crashing to an innings and 14-run defeat against Victoria in Alice Springs.
Philipson, playing in only third first-class match, collected 7 for 106 to run through Victoria for 389 early on the third morning. However, with a 182-run lead in hand, Victoria made further inroads as picking up three quick wickets. Peter Forrest (82) and Philipson fought for Queensland with a 91-run stand, but Philipson's wicket in the 41st over triggered a slide that saw the team lose their last six wickets for just 55 runs, folding for 168.
Peter Siddle was the pick of Victoria's bowlers, taking 3 for 28, while Jon Holland and Fawad Ahmed snared two scalps apiece.
