Wade's poor form continues as WA seize advantage

Nathan Coulter-Nile's late flourish with the bat helped Western Australia post a total in excess of 300, following which the Tasmanian batting crumbled on a wet second day

Stumps Tasmania 6 for 134 (Doran 54, Richardson 2-31) trail Western Australia 323 (Shaun Marsh 64, Bird 4-61, Bell 3-73) by 189 runs
Scorecard
Wicketkeeper Matthew Wade lasted only three balls in his search for the runs needed to shore up his place in Australia's Ashes team, as Western Australia put themselves in a strong position over Tasmania on a rain-hit second day of the Sheffield Shield match at the WACA Ground.
After late-order runs from Nathan Coulter-Nile helped ensure the Warriors posted a tally comfortably clear of 300, the hosts' all-pace attack claimed regular Tasmanian wickets to set themselves up for the likelihood of a wide first-innings lead. Jake Doran, back at the top of the order for Tasmania after last season trying his hand as a wicketkeeper, managed to pass 50, but aside from the captain George Bailey's 37 there was little else for the visitors to cling on to.
Simon Mackin's only wicket was that of Wade, edging through to Josh Inglis, and thereby opening up opportunity for other wicketkeeping contenders. not least of these is Peter Nevill, who will resume unbeaten for New South Wales in their concurrent match against South Australia at Adelaide Oval.
Rain curtailed most of the day's final, floodlit third, meaning an early resumption on day three.
