38.3 to BA Stokes, off stump demolished! Stokes' eyes widen as he looks down the pitch and hears the death rattle. Superbly bowled, after a couple either side of the wicket... Full enough to get him coming forward and attempting to work across the line, 89mph/143kph then jagging away to hit off three-quarters of the way up. Starc strikes, neck and crop. 193/5
42.3 to HC Brook, flashed to second slip! Brook won't be getting that Ashes hundred today. Full again but the line was wider, 90mph/145kph and it finds the edge as he drives expansively, safely pouched by Smith reaching away to his right. He had a life earlier today but won't get another. 212/7
52.5 to SCJ Broad, top edge straight up and Head holds on at cover! Short ball outside off, he backs away and swings hard, it comes off the toe of the bat and flies straight up to cover, Head has to wait nervously under it but takes the catch pretty comfortably.. 270/9
54.4 to CR Woakes, holes out to wide fine leg! Good catch by Head. Short ball follows Woakes outside leg, he's cramped as he pulls, top edge flies all the way to the rope but doesn't clear it and Head takes the catch well.. 283/10
1305424.15487000
15.3 to JE Root, chopped on! Hazlewood gets in on the act. Root falls looking to play his favoured back-foot dab, and England's bright start has quickly turned turtle. Short of a length, seams back in as Root plays with an angled bat, the ball hits the inside edge and cannons down into the base of middle and off stumps. 73/3
41.6 to JM Bairstow, bowled 'im, another drag on! Big gap as Hazlewood brought the ball back in again, this one skews off a thick inside edge and splats leg stump. Flat-footed waft from Bairstow, he's gone cheaply and Australia's day gets better again. 208/6
1326615.07539200
12.4 to Z Crawley, edged and taken! Smith grabs this one in front of his face, and Australia have knocked over both openers in quick succession. Back of a length and straightening just enough off the deck, Crawley was looking to close the face and go through the leg side but a fat leading edge is gobbled up at second. 66/2
804315.37293102
11.6 to BM Duckett, has he tickled this down leg? The appeal is turned down. Australia review. They think Duckett nicked this. It was back of a length down leg, he glances away from his body and it has tickled the glove on the way through to Carey! Australia celebrate. Good review. Duckett falls.. 62/1
602223.66222000
33.3 to MM Ali, bowled him! Quicker, fuller, drifting into middle, Moeen heaves again across the line and it slides on the through the gate and crashes into middle and leg.. 184/4
51.3 to MA Wood, bowled him! Lovely comeback. 56mph/90kph, flighted a fraction higher, angled into off, he clears the front leg to launch down the ground, plays for turn, this bounces a touch and beats the outside edge and crashes into the top of off. 261/8

51.5 to UT Khawaja, given lbw! Khawaja reviews after a long chat with Smith but it looks in hope. This was full and straight, angled in, no real shape, he was caught on crease and playing the wrong line, hit plumb on the knee roll and ball tracking has it crashing into leg! He has missed a pretty straight one there and lost a review.. 115/3
53.4 to TM Head, caught behind! Brilliant from Broad. Another cracker. Good length, angled in on a fourth stump line, it just nips away off the seam and scratches the outside edge, easy catch for Bairstow.. 127/4
2696712.5712710001
60.4 to MR Marsh, chopped on! Anderson gets one and it's a big one! Good length, fourth stump, threatening to shape away, Marsh pokes at it tentatively trying to cover the shape, it just straightened a touch off the seam, caught the inside edge and cannoned into leg stump. 151/5
2246222.81982310
42.5 to M Labuschagne, stunning take from Root! That's an utter blinder, shades of Stokes at Trent Bridge 2015, the ball was almost behind him at first slip as he stuck out his left mitt and clung on brilliantly! It was pace and bounce again from Wood, tight line, forcing the entrenched Marnus to make a decision, this time he stuck his bat down the line, took a kiss of an edge, and though Bairstow probably should have reacted first, Root certainly reacted second!. 91/2
72.5 to MA Starc, swings across the pull as Wood changes his angle to round the wicket, and that's gone straight up in the air! Duckett trots in from backward square, pouches the chance, and another one falls. Starc played well for a while, but Wood's extra pace was too much for him in the end. 185/7
2586132.441208000
16.5 to DA Warner, fences at one, edged and taken! Flying catch by Crawley, as the ball threatened to go between first and second. Warner is again chiselled out after a decent start. Probing line and some movement away, although it probably could have been left alone. Woakes prises the opening for England. 49/1
89.6 to SPD Smith, top edge caught well by Bairstow! What was Smith doing? Slower ball on middle, Smith tried to hit it out of the ground over deep midwicket, gets a leading edge that flies high over the keeper's head, Bairstow tracks back and takes it very well running with the flight. Huge wicket. 239/8
101.2 to T Murphy, fires in the fuller length and this one looks plumb! Murphy reviews, as well he might, but for once he was playing down the wrong line, as Woakes came round the wicket and targetted the base of the stumps. Struck on the knee-roll, umpire's call on the leg stump. He has to go, but that's a magnificent initiative-seizing knock. 288/9
7.112022.79310100
67.5 to AT Carey, teaser outside off stump and Carey has been suckered! Slower, wider, Carey flings through the drive, Stokes is right in his eyeline at short cover as he swoops to his right to pluck his 100th Test catch. And now England are headed places!. 170/6
103.1 to PJ Cummins, Honks a massive wipe down the ground and Stokes has done brilliantly to grab it! He was right back on the rope at long-on, the ball arrived fast and flat, he grabs it above his head, launches it up as he steps back out of play, jumps back in, grabs the relay and that's the end of Australia's innings, and the day's play!. 295/10

16.6 to BM Duckett, full length, Duckett aims a booming drive and is beaten... or is he? Starc and Carey appealed, Kumar Dharmasena wasn't interested. But Cummins reviews after a chat with his team-mates. Not sure what else the sound could have been, if there was one, though the slips were uninterested. Here we go: BIG spike on UltraEdge, Duckett is a goner! Excellent use of the DRS, and Australia finally make the breakthrough. 79/1
72.4 to JM Bairstow, nicked behind, no doubt this time! Length in the channel, bit of a swipe from Jonny and Carey pockets the catch. Starc can celebrate without fear of being piled into, and England have lost their sixth wicket. 360/6
74.1 to CR Woakes, drilled to mid-off! Woakes makes room and looks to hit down the ground, ends up picking out Khawaja for a good catch. Starc gets his third, extending his lead at the top of the series wicket-taking list. The declaration won't be an issue at this rate. 364/7
76.6 to MM Ali, ramped fine... nonchalantly taken by Hazlewood! Starc bags another, and still England will keep coming. Moeen played it pretty well, the ball would have flown for six had the man not being positioned for that very shot. Well held running along the rope. And that brings down the curtain (almost certainly) on Moeen Ali's career as a Test batter. 375/8
1506714.46588101
40.5 to HC Brook, immaculate line and Brook feathers behind! Fifth stump once again and climbing, draws him into playing and there's just a tickle through. Audible edge, Brook walks - no more fireworks from him. Australia find their spark to go bang-bang. 222/4
1607914.93549001
26.3 to Z Crawley, nicked to second slip! Good catch from Smith. Cummins delivers full on a sixth stump line, something Australia didn't do much of in the first session, he flashes a full blooded drive and nicks it straight to Smith who clutches it well at chest height. 140/2
803504.37302101
22.5011044.818115100
39.3 to BA Stokes, takes him on... holes out to mid-on! Plinked straight to the Australia captain, Murphy strikes just when Australia really needed it! Familiar aggressive option from Stokes but there's a bit of drift on the breeze into him and he miscues the shot, a simple head-height catch as Cummins backpedals. Door ajar?. 213/3
65.3 to JE Root, bowled him! Spins one through the gate via the inside edge! Tossed up outside off, this catches the edge of the rough, spins and stays a touch low as he drives against the turn, it catches the inside edge and crashes into middle stump. 332/5
77.2 to MA Wood, heave-ho, got to go! Wood holes out, Murphy has another! Went for the big ole slog-sweep but never got the connection and Marsh settles under a safe catch some way in from the rope at deep midwicket. 379/9
81.5 to JM Anderson, Given lbw! It's Joel Wilson. He took and age. Jimmy reviews. This looks plumb though. He tried to reverse off middle and was hit on the shin as it straightened after pitching. Ball tracking has it hitting the top of middle. It was Umpire's call on hitting. It is out. It looked out. There was a laugh though when Umpire's call came up. 395/10

90.6 to T Murphy, caught behind! Too good. Another beauty. Angled into off, nipping away a touch, he's caught on the crease it catches the edge and Bairstow takes the catch diving to his left! Crowd goes bananas!. 329/9
94.4 to AT Carey, Caught behind! Broad gets the final fairytale! England win. Good length fourth stump, hint of wobble away, he pushes forward and nicks it to Bairstow and Broad wheels away to cover and celebrates his final Test wicket as the Oval roars!. 334/10

1945042.63918001
41.2 to DA Warner, got him! Caught behind! Cracking delivery. Good length angled across, this nips and bounces a touch across him as he lunges forward and he gets a little scratch behind! Bairstow celebrates has does England. 140/1
43.2 to UT Khawaja, Given lbw! Did this pitch outside leg? Khawaja reviews. Fuller length, he's caught on the crease and hit plumb infront of middle and leg. It pitched inline and straightened down the line! That's out. Smashing middle and leg. Australia burn a review.. 141/2
74.6 to SPD Smith, edged and taken at second slip! Brilliant from Woakes! Back of a length, fourth stump line, it just nips away off the seam to catch the outside edge as he defends and it flies to the safe hands of Crawley.. 274/5
76.3 to MA Starc, edged to second slip! The roar is incredible! Woakes and Crawley combine again! Fuller length, angled across, enticing the drive, Starc drives hard, gets a thick edge and Crawley swallows it as casually as you like.. 275/7
2327633.30917100
73.3 to TM Head, edged to slip! Moeen spins one from the rough and gets the breakthrough! Tossed up beautifully into the rough outside off, inviting the drive, Head tries to drive and it spins sharply away and tickles the edge, easy catch for Root at slip.. 264/4
75.5 to MR Marsh, incredible catch from Bairstow! Moeen gets another to spin from the rough outside off, it catches the inside edge, onto pad, up onto the chest of Marsh and out into the off side, Bairstow flings his right hand out and it sticks in the webbing diving to his right!. 274/6
81.2 to PJ Cummins, dragged down, Cummins heaves... and deflects a catch to leg slip! Stokes takes it on the run, holds on this time before celebrating! Moeen has another, there'll be no captain's heroics from Cummins here. Big wipe across the line, came off inside edge and then thigh pad. The Oval roars, England now two wickets away. 294/8

48.6 to M Labuschagne, edged to second slip! Good catch by Crawley. 86mph/139kph, wide of the crease, angled in and swinging away, he was squared up on the back foot and beaten by the late movement, it goes off the edge into the big buckets of Crawley who moves forward to his left to take a good catch.. 169/3
