Upul Tharanga made 77 but several of his team-mates could not build on starts as Sri Lanka A ended on 248 for 6 in reply to West India A's 282 in the third unofficial Test in Moratuwa.
Tharanga and Kusal Perera put on 72 upfront before the latter was caught behind off Jermaine Blackwood for 38. Lahiru Thirimanne then added 66 with his captain but he too could not carry on and departed for 21 off Carlos Brathwaite. The seamer sent back Tharanga in his next over, caught behind the mode of dismissal yet again.
Ashan Priyanjan was stumped off Devendra Bishoo cheaply while Kithuruwan Vithanage went leg-before to the legspinner after moving to 25. Niroshan Dickwella soon gave wicketkeeper Chadwick Walton his fourth catch of the day.
It was left to Dinesh Chandimal and Chaturanga de Silva to revive the innings from 200 for 6 with an unbeaten 48-run partnership. Chandimal, dropped by the Sri Lanka selectors for the upcoming ODI tour of India, was at the crease on 43 while de Silva had made 24.
West Indies A had begun the day on 239 for 6 but lasted less than nine overs as Nuwan Pradeep grabbed the remaining four wickets to dismiss the visitors for 282.
