With national call-ups putting ever-increasing strain on the provinces, we can expect to see a lot more of Davids provided he can perform more consistently when selected for the Western Province senior side. The lower-middle-order right-handed batsman is a powerful hitter of the ball. For WP, Davids has been used more in limited overs games than in first-class matches and has not exactly distinguished himself in either version of the game. On the one hand he has not played a game for WP that has forced the selectors to continue picking him; on the other, when he is picked there is tremendous pressure on him to perform, since failure to do so has seen him dropped for the subsequent match.
