Behera double ton lifts Odisha to 529

Captain Natraj Behera's double-ton helped Odisha post a massive total against Haryana in Lahli.

Resuming on 280 for 1, Odisha lost overnight batsman and centurion Ranjit Singh to Harshal Patel early, but Behera went on to make a big score. Along with Halhadar Das, who made 93, he put on 154 runs for the sixth wicket. Behera's 255 not out, which lasted more than 11 hours, saw him face 453 balls and smash 19 fours and four sixes. It was the second-best score by an Odisha batsman in first-class cricket, and the first double-century in Lahli.

KB Arun Karthik guided the lower order to help Assam achieve the first-innings lead against Delhi in Guwahati.

Resuming on 69 for 3, the hosts lost captain Gokul Sharma to Pradeep Sangwan in the fourth over of the morning. Arun Karthik and Tarjinder Singh then raised 37 runs before left-arm spinner Tarjinder had Manan lbw. The wicket gave Delhi an opening, and from 116 for 5, Assam were down to 130 for 8.

Arun Karthik, however, ensured that he took the team's score past Delhi's 149 before he was trapped lbw by Manan for his fourth wicket. Arun Karthik said the pitch had variable bounce and it would break in the next two days. "The wicket is a little up and down because of the black soil and it was a little difficult to bat," he told ESPNcricinfo. "The Delhi bowlers also bowled good areas and didn't give anything away, so I had to take my chances towards the end."

In their second innings, Delhi had a wobbly start, losing captain Gautam Gambhir in the first over, but then Unmukt Chand and Dhruv Shorey (38) mended things with a 67-run stand. The visitors went to stumps with a lead of 93 runs having lost four wickets.

An unbroken 81-run stand between Aditya Sarwate and Ravi Jangid (27*) for the seventh wicket brought Vidarbha within striking distance of Rajasthan's first innings total of 216 in Nagpur.

Vidarbha began shakily in the morning, losing wickets in regular intervals. The only significant contribution in the top order came from Faiz Fazal, but his departure saw Vidarbha slide to 80 for 4 and then 121 for 6, with captain S Badrinath and Jitesh Sharma departing in the space of three deliveries.

Sarwate and Jangid, however, produced the highest partnership of the match so far to take them close to the first-innings lead. The left-arm seam duo of Aniket Choudhary and Tanveer-Ul-Haq picked up four wickets between them, while Dishant Yagnik collected four dismissals behind the stumps.

Sudip Chatterjee's fourth first-class ton of the season helped Bengal consolidate on their strong beginning on Sunday. Five other batsmen crossed fifties as Bengal finished the second day on 528 for 8 in Pune. Chatterjee, resuming on 51, proceeded to score his second century in as many games. Offspinner Chirag Khurana picked up four wickets.
