Virat Kohli hadn't quite found his best form all season. Chris Gayle, in between being left out and brought back into Royal Challengers Bangalore's XI, struggled for fluency. In their last game of the season, Kohli and Gayle showed glimpses of what they could do if form and luck was on their side.
Together, they added 66 runs in 49 balls to consolidate a tidy opening stand. Gayle, despite looking patchy, had no trouble in going to or over the boundary. He hammered three fours and three sixes to finish the season strongly.
Kohli, who nearly hit 1000 runs last season, missed the first three games of the season, before returning to the XI with 62 against Mumbai Indians. While his batting hasn't been as per his usual standards, he has looked fluent in a few matches. Sunday, against Daredevils, was another instance. He too, hit three fours and three sixes, helping Royal Challengers post 161, a total they defended by 10 runs.
