New Zealand v South Africa

At Dunedin, February 28, 29, March 2, 3

15-Apr-1965
At Dunedin, February 28, 29, March 2, 3. Drawn, after South Africa failed to score 65 to win in 27 minutes against the accurate attack of Cameron and Blair.
The tailenders, Dick, Blair and Cameron, were mainly responsible for New Zealand avoiding defeat. After eight second-innings wickets had fallen for 79, these three defined the bowlers for 64 minutes and added 59 runs.
In fact, bowlers dominated the match. Only Sinclair of the New Zealanders really played confidently against the pace of Pollock and Partridge on the first day and then South Africa, although gaining a lead of 74, collapsed in the face of Reid's off-cutters following an opening partnership of 117 between Goddard and Barlow. D.B. Pithey, with off-breaks, did the damage when New Zealand batted a second time.
