Pakistan v Australia

At Lahore, November 21, 22, 23, 25, 26

15-Apr-1961
At Lahore, November 21, 22, 23, 25, 26. Australia won by seven wickets and clinched the series, becoming the first country to win a Test rubber in Pakistan.
Pakistan always struggled during their first innings against the pace of Davidson and Meckiff, and the spin of Benaud and Kline, despite the easy nature of the turf pitch.
In contrast, the Australian batsmen scored readily despite frequent bowling changes. O'Neill was particularly aggressive, hitting nineteen 4's in his first century in Test cricket. He batted three hours forty minutes.
Imtiaz Ahmed inspired stern resistance by Pakistan in their second innings and Saeed Ahmed batted with the utmost concentration for over six hours. He and Shuja-ud-din added 169 in five hours twenty minutes for the third wicket.
When the last day began, Pakistan stood 43 ahead with seven wickets in hand, but Kline, with his left-arm slows, exploited worn patches and brought about a collapse. Australia needed 122 in just under two hours and achieved victory with twelve minutes to spare, Harvey, O'Neill and Benaud all batting confidently.
