WEST INDIES v ENGLAND 1989-90

At Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, February 14

15-Apr-1991
At Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, February 14. No result. Toss: England. England bowled and fielded with a consistency unrecognisable from their early matches. Gooch directed operations with precision and care, and none of the West Indian batsmen dominated. However, England's batsmen, facing only a moderate target, were already behind the clock against Marshall and Bishop when persistent rain forced an abandonment. Lewis, who had been drafted into the team from the England A tour of Zimbabwe because of injury to Ellcock, found himself playing when Defreitas twisted a knee while warming up and, like the other England seam bowlers, did himself full justice. The first of Stewart's two catches, to dismiss Greenidge, was a spectacular, leaping clutch at mid-wicket, and the England fielding in general was of a high standard.
