At Georgetown, March 21. West Indies won by 101 runs. Toss: India. To add to India's agony in another crushing defeat, Srikkanth's forearm was fractured by a ball from Bishop. The injury put him out of the tour. Vengsarkar's luck with the toss held, and this time he put West Indies in, his decision being influenced by the pitch containing moisture. The early assistance it gave went unexploited, however, for India did not hold their chances. Greenidge and Haynes, both missed off Chetan Sharma in his first three overs, and each surviving two later chances, staged an opening partnership of 185, West Indies' highest in a one-day international against India. Greenidge was out for 80, but Haynes was unbeaten with a rumbustious 152, including six sixes and ten fours, when rain ended West Indies' innings. After Greenidge's departure, Haynes and Richardson put on 95 in eleven overs. The injury to Srikkanth, in the eighth over, so dampened the Indians' spirits that they went through the motions thereafter.
