England v Sri Lanka, 2016

Wisden's review of the third ODI, England v Sri Lanka, 2016

15-Apr-2017
At Bristol, June 26. No result. England 1pt, Sri Lanka 1pt. Toss: England.
For the second time in three years, following a washout against India, Bristol's big day fell foul of the weather. This one was little more than half over when the rain came, frustrating not only the locals - Gloucestershire had spent huge sums on ground improvements - but also England, whose bowlers had again done well. Mendis made a neat 53, then Chandimal and Mathews put on 80. But Tharanga was the only other player to reach double figures, as the tidy Woakes and Plunkett shared six wickets. After the first rain break, Hales was caught behind first ball; soon the weather closed in for good.
