India v South Africa, 2015-16

At Rajkot, October 18, 2015 (day/night). South Africa won by 18 runs. Toss: South Africa.
For the third game in succession, the chasing team got themselves into a good position, only for a middle-order fumble to hand victory to the opposition. De Kock's fourth one-day century against India, and his third-wicket partnership of 118 with du Plessis - caught off a Mohit Sharma no-ball on 16 en route to a fluent 60 off 63 balls - had given South Africa impetus, though India's spinners kept them to 270. Hostile and accurate short-pitched bowling from Morne Morkel once again exposed Indian vulnerabilities, draining the final overs of any real tension. Kohli, restored to No. 3, made 77, and Dhoni 47, but neither looked especially fluent, eating up 160 deliveries between them.
South Africa's pace bowlers aimed back of a length to great effect, and the required rate ballooned. Rohit Sharma had made an assured 65 but, with Raina's wretched run continuing, there was no lower-order heft to get India across the line once Morkel - who finished with four for 39 - prised out Dhoni, Kohli and Rahane in his final spell. As at Indore, spectators created an impromptu light show, turning on the torches on their mobile phones during the eighth over of India's innings to create a scene that was more rock concert than run-chase.
Man of the Match: M. Morkel.
