Each side chose from 15 players. Against a young attack, Lokesh Rahul (43) and Shikhar Dhawan began with a century stand, before Ajinkya Rahane strengthened India's position with 109 from 127 balls. An experienced home batting unit staggered to 10-5 against Ishant Sharma,swinging the Kookaburra prodigiously. The Indians were far enough ahead after two days for Cheteshwar Pujara (31) and Rahul (47) to retire out overnight; the President's XI were set 411, and Test opener Kaushal Silva negotiated Ravichandran Ashwin until stumps.
