World Series Cup - Fourth Final Match

At Sydney, January 27. West Indies won by 18 runs, a victory achieved more easily than the margin suggests and one that gave West Indies the Benson and Hedges Cup for the second time in the three years of its existence. They were assured of a good total by another fine partnership between Greenidge and Richards, who put on 138 for the second wicket, and later in the innings Lloyd, playing very well, took them to an almost impregnable total. Wood again batted well for Australia, but whenever they looked anything like getting on top a wicket fell.

Man of the Finals: I. V. A. Richards. Attendance: 19,984.
