INDIA v AUSTRALIA

At Nottingham, June 13. Australia won by 162 runs. Through Kapil Dev took an early wicket and subsequently ran through the later batting, the other Indian bowlers caused few problems. Chappell's 110 was made off 131 balls and his partnership of 144 in 29 overs with Hughes took Australia on their way to an unassailable position early in the day, Yallop carrying on when Chappell was out at 206 for four. India were without Gavaskar, and Australia had rested Lillee in favour of the left-arm spinner, Hogan. However, it was the young fast-medium bowler, MacLeay, with six wickets, who did most damage to India.
