Wisden
Third One-day International

†NEW ZEALAND v SRI LANKA 1982-83

At Auckland, March 20. New Zealand won by 116 runs. There was a brilliant innings by Turner, who, after being dropped when 6, shared an opening stand of 132 in 112 minutes with Edgar and reached his century in 138 minutes. New Zealand, taking 99 runs from the final ten overs, passed 300 for the first time in a limited-overs international. Sri Lanka, starting slowly, never looked capable of matching such furious scoring. For them it was a disappointing end to their tour.

Man of the Match: G. M. Turner.
