At Peshawar, October 13. Pakistan won by eight wickets. Mendis and De Mel, coming together at 69 for six, looked as if they might lift Sri Lanka, who were put in to bat, to a respectable total. However, Mendis was bowled by Qadir for 23, and later De Mel, who hit Qadir for 16 in one over, was run out. Mudassar Nazar and Shoaib Mohammad put on 113 runs for the first wicket to set Pakistan on the way to a comfortable victory.
