Second One-day International

†INDIA v AUSTRALIA 1986-87

At Srinagar, September 9. Australia won by three wickets. The Australians returned the compliment by inserting India and, by slowing the over-rate, bowling only 47 overs. India were coasting comfortably until Gavaskar was run out in the 25th over, and the attempts of Shastri and Pandit to make up for Azharuddin's slowness were not wholly successful. Vengsarkar had retired hurt because of back trouble. Kapil Dev and Binny made inroads on a wicket that held something for the seamers, but competent batting by Border swung the match Australia's way.

Man of the Match: A. R. Border.
